Historic Hyde Park

Hyde Park is a historic neighborhood and district which includes Hyde Park Village, a collection of upscale shops, fine dining, entertainment and monthly fresh market events. Hyde Park is recognized as a national historic area with homes reflecting styles from different eras. Initially, Craftsman and Prairie style architecture, as well as Bungalow styles, dominated new construction in the community. Later, however, more unique and eclectic home designs were constructed which began to replace Victorian homes and a few of these homes still stand today.

The most popular architectural styles represented in Hyde Park today are renovated Colonial and Neo-Classical Revival styles, turn-of-the-century “Princess Anne” style, from its predecessor the Queen Anne, Mediterranean Revival styles of the 1920s, and of course, the modest American Four Square. Today, there is a growing trend in Hyde Park for new construction and remodeling of existing homes that give way to fresh and modern, contemporary architecture. Visit the Historic Hyde Park Neighborhood Association for information and updates on events, meetings and community activities.
